Demystifying Addiction: The Science Behind the Stigma

$30.00 – $45.00An informative training for clinicians, counselors, nurses, family, and anyone else in the community touched by addiction. This training will help uncover, in an easy to understand way, what addiction is and why it is so difficult to treat. It will explore the bio-psycho-social impacts of addiction and the populations vulnerable to substance abuse as well as important considerations when working with people who have started the recovery process.
GOALS & OBJECTIVES:
~Deconstruct the neurobiology of addiction.
~Explain how addiction is a brain disorder with emotional underpinnings.
~Discuss how addiction progresses and what populations are vulnerable.
~Identify how substance abuse and addiction deplete the brain biologically, creating mental illness.
~Explain How substance abuse and addiction stunts individuals biologically, psychologically, and socially.
~Discuss important considerations when treating people in early recovery.
Course meets the qualifications for 3.5 hours of CE credits.
